1. What is the main idea of the paper? (you can get much information on this from the abstract and introduction)

To identify different signatures.

2. What experiment, if any, was performed?

they are evaluating 5,600 signatures using Markov Models.

3. Was the experiment (or, if one was not performed, the data presented) GS or BS? That is, was there a large sample size, a cause-and-effect relationship, etc.

we believe it is a GS because they have a wide variety of signatures to test.

4. What did the authors determine about forensic graphology?

They are trying to catch forgery and authenticity.

5. Name at least five interesting facts from the paper that you think the rest of the class might appreciate.

  • There are two different schools of graphology. Mimic and symbolic. Mimic schools focus on identifying a persons character

  • based on holistic features of the handwritting, height, width, and slant. Symbolic schools, are based mainly on the study of the interpretation of the symbols.

  • Markov Model is a way for them to analize handwritting.

  • they do everything on computers. its all digital.

  • they look at the handwritting and find things that most people just wouldn't see.
